Nifty ends lower; HDFC spoils the show

Nifty edges lower on profit booking after hitting 18 months high. Profit booking in HDFC twins dragged the Nifty down. Nifty’s range for the day is 55.35 points and it closed down by 0.28% compared to Tuesday’s closing value.

In the cash segment Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers to the tune of Rs 854 crores and Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) net sellers to the tune of  Rs 769 crores.

In FNO segment, FIIs sold 341 contracts of Index Futures and bought  9,217 contracts of Index calls.
They also bought 2,518  contracts of Index puts.
DIIs  are net short by 20,900 (-30) in Index Futures contracts.
