Indians Made Sunny Leone the Queen of Internet this 2015

2015 is done and thus we ensured Sunny Leone grabbed the eyeballs of most of us by making her the most searched person in India. Even Alia Bhatt kept up with her reputation and managed a solid 9th place. Also it’s that time of the year again when one starts to wonder what on earth did he do this year and what happened to the numerous resolutions, plans, strategies one had made while one was plain drunk either on booze or on his misguided sense of his ability to do things. While we at Caustic News cannot answer those questions for you(The author of this post has even stopped making new year resolutions) we can tell you where and exactly how you spent your time online , or to be more precise: what made the most buzz in your search engines this 2015!
1 – Sunny Leone: Well she did it, she became the most searched person in 2015. Way to go people, and yes before you ask Modi was at number 10 and Alia at 9, she beat him, God help us all. So maybe you all just searched for her while having only moral intentions in mind, do let us know.
1S – The Dress: Now coming to something which isn’t generally associated with Sunny Leone, the dress. Whether it was blue or black, or gold and brown or some other shades which mankind hasn’t yet discovered. We globally searched the dress about 73 Million times as as it was largely a social media phenomenon it was surprising that it got so many Google searches as well.
2 – FIFA crisis – FIFA was rocked with a huge crisis earlier this year whewoemere were numerous allegations of corruption against top officials, and the most searched question regarding this was not ‘What is the FIFA crisis’ but ‘What is the full form of FIFA’ , we did about 42 Million searches so we searched more about a dress than we did about the worst scandal to hit football.
2S – Sporting events: There was also the cricket world cup, apparently we didn’t win so no point carrying forward the discussion. There was also a huge buzz regarding the Women’s football world cup where the most buzz was created over them being forced to play on artificial turfs.
3. The bad news: Nepal was rocked with a devastating earthquake and there was an outpouring of support from the global community with most queries being about how one can help in the midst of the crisis. Even Chennai was hit with a devastating flood and we at Caustic news hope 2016 will be a better year for mankind.
4. The financial world: Serious questions started being posed about China’s economy with the Shanghai exchange crashing by about 30% largely due to lack of fundamentals. What’s to be noted is that the index is still up by about 40% since the boom started so people have not exactly lost all their savings. The second most asked question regarding China crisis was ‘When does the Chinese stock market open and close’. Really?
4S: Greece almost went broke with banks staying shut and maximum withdrawals capped to 60 euros a day. The government’s populist and welfare schemes over 20 years are being largely blamed for this crisis. The leftist government headed by Alexis Tsipras who had vemently opposed the austerity measures finally agreed to them, resulting them getting a bailout package.
5: Volkswagen emission scandal: The good people at Volkswagen discovered that their cars were violating the emission standards so they did the best and most effective thing, rig the results. Probably some political parties in India might even be interested in recruiting those people.
6: Water on Mars: NASA reportedly discovered water flowing on the surface of Mars causing speculations whether Martians actually exist.
7: Attack on Paris: The global community was devastated after the gruesome terrorist attack on Paris by ISIS supporters. It resulted in the France government collaborate with Russia for the first time since WWII to pound IS with airstrikes. The Paris tragedy resulted in the largest amount of searches this year, totally amounting to over 885 Million
8: Sehwag retired: Yes he finally chose to take his pads off, and interestingly he was a most searched person not only in India but also in Australia. Guess they are still a bit scared of him.
9 : COP21: All world leaders met in Paris(No no Kim Jong Un there) to reach in agreement towards a mutually agreeable climate change treaty.
10 : Star Wars is here! : The latest in Star wars franchise was released recently with it earning more than 800 M in about a week. The author of this post has never watched star wars so is unable to shed more light on the event. Do feel free to hurl obscenities at him in the comment section below and also suggest what is the chronology to be maintained for watching it.
These were the prime events that rocked and shocked our search engines this 2015.
