An Open Letter to Fali S Nariman

It is such an insult Sir that every supporter of the “priest” (your words for a five time elected MP) is being identified by you as a “spokesman of the party” (BJP). Then is Uttar Pradesh’s massive mandate a “Constitutional crisis” for you Sir? And is Mohammed Kaif, the eminent cricketer a BJP spokesman for supporting the CM? And under which rule the Constitution debars a “priest” to be the Chief Minister of a state? If a significantly ignorant and consistently clueless Rahul Gandhi can aspire to be the PM, I don’t think Mr. Nariman, you ought to be speaking against Yogi Adityanath. Rather this stated discrimination is a “Constitutional crisis”, and coming from you it’s shocking to say the least.
How Constitutional is it to identify the sitting CM of a State by his religion? Going by your argument, will it be fair enough to say that India was a Sikh state when Gyani Zail Singh was the President of India? Oh, the stink of communalism in your opinion!
You must understand that oped articles and arm chair intellectualism were discarded by people of India in number of states this year. People seek results, not noise. Opportunities, not advice. Philosophies must provide actionable policies and policies must lead to prosperity for all. And if like many, you believed that “Modi has done nothing”, well Sir he has been cleaning up a mess of 60 plus years. And he has set up processes (so did Mr. Singh, his predecessor) for a new direction. It does involve risk and it may fail. But then the PM of a Nation cannot be a risk averse individual (the MBAs despite their business education have also sunk businesses and you Sir would have also lost cases, despite your planning and arguments). And finally he and his Cabinet listen. They are also responsive. They interact with the Aam Aadmi (look at the Panchayat and Municipal elections).
The Hindus in India have started to speak up. You (specifically your words) and your likes are an illustration as to why. But, that should not be unsettling for a Constitutional expert.
