Once again, Modi and his party have won the battle

Now that the Congress has got its breath back after getting gobsmacked, we see that its spokesmen are slowly starting to call Nitish Kumar names. One Congress spokesman used the word “prostitution.”

We think they should realize that Nitish by himself has a better and cleaner reputation than most other politicians. By calling Nitish names, the Congress discredits itself. But that’s their choice. If they took the time to listen to saner voices, they wouldn’t be in the black hole they are currently in.

The Congress should realize that it contributed to this crisis too. By blindly supporting Lalu and his son, it added to the mess. Nitish, rightly or wrongly known for his probity, had no choice. This was the only way to get the monkey (or monkeys, as it turns out) off his back.

The sad outcome of this is that the country has lost what seemed at one time like a credible opposition to the BJP. Once again, Modi and his party have won the battle, not because they destroyed the enemy, but because the enemy destroyed itself.
