Accumulation Spree of Index Puts by FIIs

Nifty opened positively and consolidated till 12 noon and then spiked to 8537 by 12.35 PM. Some sustained selling brought Nifty down to day’s low of 8476.7 at 13.35 hours. Huge buying in the last hour of trade lifted the Nifty to a days’ high of 8540 at 3.25 PM and ended 8528 for the day.

In the cash segment Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers to the tune of Rs 549 crores and Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net sellers to the tune of Rs 377 crores.

In FNO segment, FIIs bought 8,435 contracts of Index Futures and sold 9,136 contracts of Index calls.
They also bought 7,3002 contracts of Index puts.
DIIs  are net short by 15,498 in Index Futures contracts.

FIIs have been steadily accumulating Index puts  in this month.

Nifty Put Call Ratio (PCR) data shows support at 8400 and Resistance at 8600.
