The many blunders of Peace TV

Peace TV and its popular face Zakir Naik have recently been in the news for allegations that one of the terrorists in “Dhaka attack” was inspired by Zakir Naik. In another unrelated but serious issue that cropped up on the social media, some Patriotic Tweeples found that the peace TV website showed India map without Jammu & Kashmir as a part of it.

It is to be noted that in the very recent past the issue of “misrepresentation of India in maps” was taken up by the parliamentarians of the country and serious actions were proposed. Many websites who were earlier misrepresenting India in the maps changed their stance and propped up proper maps of India on their websites. The representation of Indian map is a huge emotional issue for all Indians as Jammu & Kashmir is an integral part of India , even if there may be some contradicting claims by Pakistan.

In this situation, it was a huge shock for our editorial team to find India misrepresented in Peace TV website. We therefore did a check and found the claim to be true. In a section called “Schedule by region” on the website, when we select “India” in the map, it showed India without Jammu and Kashmir. We promptly requested for a response from the Peace TV media team. The reply we got was shocking. Peace TV denied the presence of any such map in their website.

On checking the website, we found that the option “Schedule by region” has been removed from the site.

Luckily we had a screenshot of the said map earlier, which we had also sent to Peace TV.

The removal of the option “Schedule by region” and therefore the false map in itself is a victory for all Patriotic Tweeples, but Peace TV could’ve apologized for its error and done the same.
