Madrid – Real Madrid defender and captain Sergio Ramos and his team on Sunday celebrated winning the 11th Champions League football title by raising the European Cup in front of thousands of fans in central Madrid’s Cibeles Square.

The plane from Milan landed around 6 a.m. local time (4 a.m. GMT) and the team headed to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, reports Efe.

Little more than an hour later, the Madrid players boarded a bus to embark on their victory parade through the streets of the Spanish capital, ending at the Cibeles Fountain.

Defender Alvaro Arbeloa, who is leaving the club after seven seasons, was the first player to disembark from the bus and lift up the trophy.

Thousands of fans, who had waited more than seven hours to see their idols live, cheered and celebrated.

After enjoying the mass show of support from fans, the team climbed back into the bus to return to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid defeated cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid 5-3 on penalties to win their 11th Champions League title on Saturday in Milan.
