Time To Show Geelani & Umer Farooq Their Place

Syed Ali Shah Geelani & Mirwaiz Umer Farooq. In a system filled with the two-faced, it’s hard to find two more breathtaking cowards. They won’t ever send their own kin to be ‘martyred’. Instead, they wait for Burhan Wanis to be killed so they get the chance to applaud from the sidelines over their ‘shahadat’. Masterful, fake, vicarious martyrdom.
Geelani and Mirwaiz are plainly users of Kashmiri people and their faith. Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, the most consistent coward, player and selective moderate. Selfish, self-promoting and happy to see Kashmiri blood flow if it makes him look good.
Two individuals who’ve reaped untold benefits of the Indian system, and continue to do so. I don’t believe they should be thrown out. India has place for the venomous and the anti-national. What I do believe is that thousands of Kashmiris who follow these two men should be aware of their cowardice. In an issue that explodes with complexities, I believe this should be perplexing in its simplicity. The Geelanis and Mirwaizs of the valley will climb over their mothers if it means the opportunity to breast-beat and look good over spilt blood that will never be their own. I truly hope that the inevitable unrest ahead in the Kashmir Valley after the killing of terrorist Burhan Wani will be at least an inflection point in how a new generation of Kashmiris regard these phoneys, who’ll never fight for them. Never.
Stones will be thrown, protesters will be killed, the cycle of violence will continue. There is a macabre calmness in the predictability of what happens in Kashmir. Asking for peace, for fortitude and restraint is asking for too much. Asking for tempers to cool is asking for too much. But if there ever was an opportunity for the people of Kashmir to reject the cowards who purport to lead them without once stepping out of their homes, this is it.
Show Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umer Farooq their real place. It is our strength that that place happens to be right here in India too.
