Winter Blizzard Warning

Winter Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 6 AM EST Sunday in Washington DC. National Weather Service warns that it could be one of the worst storms in the city’s history. Georgia, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Kentucky, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, the District of Columbia, Virginia and West Virginia have all declared emergency.

Severe winter weather conditions are expected. Expect falling and blowing snow with the combination of heavy winds. This might lead to white out conditions and will be a threat to life and property.

Snow accumulation between 18-24 inches along and east of interstate-95 and 24 to 30 inches West of Interstate-95 is expected. Washington DC is expected to receive around 24 inches. Heavy snow is expected to continue through Saturday night. Wind speeds are expected to be around 25 to 35 MPH and with gusts up to 60 MPH along Chesapeake Bay shoreline.

Many events have been postponed. Eight people have been killed in car crashes. Stay indoors. Do not travel and if you have to travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If stranded, stay with your vehicle. Expect power outages. Stay safe!
