Chennai – Selvi J. Jayalalithaa, popularly known as “Amma” to her partymen, was today sworn in as the CM of Tamil Nadu along with her 28 member cabinet.

Post swearing in , she signed a few files to implement the poll promises as per her party’s manifesto. The important of which is the step-by-step implementation of “prohibition”. As a first step she signed an order announcing the closure of as much as 500 TASMAC shops. The working hours of other shops has also been reduced as 12pm to 10 pm.

A few other poll promises signed to implement were

8gm gold for the marriage for women

Free 100 units of power to houses

Free 200 units of power to hand-loom weavers

This is the first election in TN where the manifesto of parties was highly discussed as an important factor in the elections and the AIADMK has made many important promises in its manifesto . As a good start has been made by implementing a few on day 1 itself, it will be interesting to see how much more are implemented in the coming years.

Key portfolios of the cabinet are

Sh. O. Panneerselvam – Finance, Personnel and Administrative Reforms

Sh. Edappadi K. Palaniswami – Highways, Public works, and minor ports
